BB Green

The fast Air Supported Vessel BB Green was launched in June at Latitude Yachts in Riga and has now come to Stockholm for sea trials and demonstration purposes. BB Green is the result of a five year long EU-project. The vessel takes up to 99 passengers and operates at a speed of 30 knots with batteries and electric propulsion. The ship is the first of its kind and will initially be used for demonstration purposes across Europe.

Energy efficiency and emissions

The ASV technology reduces water resistance by having the ship operating on an air cushion. A battery powered fan in the bow injects pressurised air into a cavity under the ship and supports some 80% of the vessels displacement. The resistance is reduced by 40 % at high speed, which makes it possible for the 25-ton ship to achieve a speed of 30 knots propelled by 2 x 280 kW electric motors.

Charging

The ship is designed to have 400 kWh batteries which makes it possible to operate at high speed for over 30 minutes with a 14 nm range before super-charging for 15-20 minutes. This makes it the ”The world’s fastest electric commuter vessel” – perfect for commuting on inland waterways from outer suburbs to city centre.
